I'd be taking it back either way. Should've known what parts would be required against what you actually had.

not really... as i think its waiting for a part for the boost gauge which was originally going into the vacuum pipe but they couldnt get a reading so they are taping into the Intercooler or something (dont really know and wasnt paying that much attention)

I've setup enough boost gauges to know the only parts they should need is a gauge, pod, t-piece and a few feet of hose.

If you've got a recirc valve on your car, which I imagine you do, all they need to do is split off the vacuum from that with a t-piece.

It's a 10min job gettin it setup, then a 20min job making it look pretty in the cockpit and wiring up the backlight to an ignition-live.

What are the benefits of having the boost gauges?

On a standard car, nothing other that watching the needle fling about.

On tuned turbo cars, its a way of seeing how much your sucking in, watching boost levels can show if your engine is throwing in the right amount of air at all times.

On a proper big boost car it's nice to know the readings to see whats going on, or see if it's over-boosting etc.

Generally it's for show more than anything. I have them, but they do nothing more than look pretty really.

Sounds like they're blagging you at the garage by the way. Have they done it before?

I reckon my Vento is over boosting. Its savage pulling away quick up through to 3rd gear. Either that or its the budget tyres not putting down traction
