some of you may know brother C-R-A-I-G has 1.4 sport and was in bodyshop other week and now wont start.has spark fueling all ok has slight comprssion but not great,around 8.2 highest 5.3 lowest,no faults in memorys,no leaks split pipes etc but still wont start.swapped coil,changed plugs nothing.also doesnt look like its turning over quick enough.im thinkin something fucked big time lol.any help be apprciated

Check its all timed up correctly, that compression sounds very low to me

Yeah think im going to try this Next,Ive Done another Compression Test and the Highest was around 5 Lowest 3/4.

Checked for Live & Earth And,Also scoped for a Patten when Cranking - All Ok.Nothing in Fault Memory Either.
It must deffo be something Mechanical - I.E Headgasket,Piston Rings,Valves Etc??

Yep,Ive checked for Lives & Earths,Fuses,Relays you name it.Im thinking HG Becuase nothings in the Fault Memory and the Compressions are Shit.
Im going to check the Timing,See what thats like.

drop a little oil don each boor to check if its rings but what your saying it does sound like timing.. just strange that it was ok when it got taken in and now it isnt... you sure you havent had a little visit under the bonnet from one of the body shop guys thinking they could be funny?

Well i also Read about you saying someing about a Woodruff Key Or Bolt?Do you think this could be the cause?
Yeah thats what i cant Understand.Well im going to Ring them and ask them if they have done anything.If they have though what could they have done that wouldnt come up in the Fault Memory

Any timing issues wont come up as fault codes though. The keyway your talking about is behind the crank pulley and yes some people do have problems with them.
Whip the bottom pulley off and check its timed up right, you will probably need an impact gun though

Yeah i know that.Well ive gave it this Lad to have a look so he Said he will Check the Timing Etc.He's got his own Workshop with Tools and stuff so thats not a problem.

well timing was way out got the head off 2nite.top off all 4 pistons marked,closer look showed up 2 bent inlet valves on cylinder 3.so hopefully by weekend should have new valves in new headgasket and new cambelt kit then fingers crossed lol should start up

EDIT;
It may be 2 Or 4 Bent Valves yet,Need to do further investigating,It was also Cyclinder 2 not 3.Also found that the Head is slightly Chipped/Cracked on 1 of the corners.
Will hopefully be running again soon though

no defo 2 lad just 2 inlet exhaust are ok and the chip out the head wont matter.get your finger out and get the 1.6 stripped its sat there waiting for you

shit luck mate
as before where you said bout the woodruf key, the c16xe and early 14 and x16xe lumps had a peroblem with the wodruf key wearing and subsequently(sp) the timing going out or it sheared and then you just had a big bill in the end.
hope the car gets fixed soon mate
