For the cost of that you might as well put a C20XE in

If he asked what's the best bhp/£ then I would have suggested that. However he never asked that?

Oh yeah I totally agree but I just thought it might be worthwhile pointing that out, might sway a decision.

my cars uses less fuel now its a xe than when it was a 1.4 becasue you dont have to give it as much to be going just as quick(if not faster). plus you could do all the other stuff and then it will definatly be worse on fuel than an xe.

Aye it's the option I would take! Just depends if this guy wants that sort of thing. It'd be FAR quicker than the 1.4!

How much would a remap and raise limiter cost? What improvement would it give? I'm guessing it would raise it to around 9000rpm?

If you wanted to break the engine really quickly then yeah 9,000 can be done! But the normal raise is to about 7,200-7,500rpm. I'd still get an ARP head stud kit anyway.

Depends who you go to really! Can be done for a couple of hundred, for a thousand, or for a pint and peanuts

If you think the 1.4's a pocket rocket with 88bhp, then you'll be stunned if you got an XE. About 150bhp and a good whack of torque. Great fun!

for the cost of that you wont be able to afford to buy and rebuild an xe and fit it, it a 20 year old engine now at most, and not many ahve had an easy life
