Got they keys to our first house yesterday....
Old coalminer houses, built in 1925. 2 bed semi.
http://www.bairdonline.co.uk/Images/pdf/8BowhousePlace-Methilhill-15-08-08.pdf
Needs a lot of work, new bathroom, kitchen, wiring, completely gutted tbh, hopefully be in in 3 or 4 months.
Was originally advertised at offers over £61,500 back in August, then dropped to offers over £57,000, then dropped to offers over £53,000 and we purchased for £55,000
Got some photos today, it looks really tinky and worse for wear at the moment, but hopefully the progress will be steady and we shall make a cheeky little profit by the time we've stayed for 5 years
Front of property...

Rear of property...

Kitchen....

Livingroom...

Bathroom... (very small)

Hallways/Staircase...

Front Bedroom....

Back Bedroom...

Looks decent size rooms, got a drive & space for a garage.
Reminds me of when I got my flat (repo) almost 4yrs ago. You have alot of work ahead of you (If doing most yourself!?) be prepared for no social life this summer.

How much are you budgeting to get it completed to the standard where you can live in it for 5 troublefree years?
Looks like a good place though

It's gonna be a lot of fun! We are in no rush, still living with my parents.
George (fiance) is a painter and decorator, but can pretty much do anything else he applies himself to.
He is fitting a new back door as we speak
New front door will get done tomorrow.
Most of our family are tradesmen which is a bonus, getting the electrics and updated fuse box tomorrow for a mere price of £40
It's new central heating, and the double glazing and windows etc are all fairly new too.
Its fucking freezing at the minute with no electrics or heating
Away to make a flask now
The garden and kitchen will be biggest overhaul!!
2 surveys came back good, with only the electrics being the real major problem.
Beat's doing up a corsa

Have you looked into the damp?
Looks like you might have a problem with a leaking roof?

Very jealous. Lovely amount of space for parking - that is want I want the most.
But £55k?! That is bloody amazing.
You couldn't actually get a property at all for that much down here.

I wasn't saying it in a bad way, it's just the way people assume that Scotland is full of bargain houses, when I know it's not.

Looks pretty solid in the pics bar the missing roof tile between the window and chimney, is that where you're getting damp?
