Got this thing at work where we get good deals at Halfords for a bike.

So, was wondering, hard tail, 19/20" frame, up to £500ish notes.

What would you get & why?

Quite interested in the GT Aggressor XC 2 09,
Carrera Fury 20" Mens Mountain Bike 08 &
Kona Fire Mountain 20" Mountain Bike 2009

Ideas please.

how far do you have to cycle?
IMO i think your better off getting a road bike if you have any reasonable distance to travel? A mountain bike will be more work.

Northumbrian Water for me, well, a sister company anyways.

Done some work for BAE in Barrow like, big place, right chew on getting inducted though!

Anyways, yes its for travelling to work, but i've been thinking about getting a bike for a while to go off road, theres some good trails round here, and wouldnt mind a few weekend missions to the lakes and so on, so will have more miles off, than on road.

Only about a 15min drive, so not that far from work.

Anyways, any recomendations?

ide go for either a top end specialized hardrock or a bottom end specialized rockhopper, from my experience both are miles ahead of the competition in terms of quality and design

As ian said, specialized would deffinatly be my 1st choice. If you can tho, try and go to ure local bike shop, halfords are shit to be honest
