Sorry another thread
As theres a few Ford fans on here i thought i would post here, basically ive been offered a deal with said car:
Grey
76K
Standard apart from boost pipes, powdercoated wheels (RST) and a full stainless.
Absolutely Mint Bodywork/Interior
FSH
TAX
MOT
Dry Stored for the past 6 Years
Never welded
Never Sprayed
What would one be like to live with? (Considering i was thinking of a LET) Are they nippy? Reliability compared to a LET etc.
i always said i would never own a Ford but i quite like these cars tbh
Thanks

I have fortunately got a better job starting march, so getting a huge amount of money and a car isnt too much of an issue, but before you say it, i still in reality would not be able to afford to sort out the M3

all old turbo lumps will have some problems, but i think only problems with these is really the gearboxs if they are tuned to over 250bhp, they can put out some quite remarkable bhp for a 8v seen a really good one producing over 300, only really big problems they have is rust

I love fords but they are generally slow and unreliable bastards! its a car to put at the back of your shed for ten years. for the money to buy and insure a vtec is a much safer quicker option.

Try driving one in the summer - you'll need the heaters on full whack to try and keep the engine cool enough
Personally a very backward move regardless of mileage covered in a year. Being a RST it will break.
My mates stage 3 tuned one did about 500 miles before it catastrophically broke 18 months later its still sat on his drive broken with no engine

Dont do it, but there not as bad as it seems
svm286 has been built for 10 years and has 286bhp from a 1.6 cvh, it explodes gearboxes, but engine wise is fine

But would a standard engine chew up cogs?

they are good cars mate, the trouble is the moron owners.
like the clown in this thread saying how his mates stage 3 tuned one is unreliable. ARE YOU A MORON? of course itll be unreliable its not designed to run that much power ffs.
if you want a good rst i have a 65k miler, FSH, completely standard. starts up on th button every time and runs absoloutely mint.
compared to my last one that was tinkered with and did the headgasket, but i wasnt suprised because it had been tuned on a shoe string by previous owners.
if you like them get one, they can be reliable if you spend money in the right areas. and make sure you keep the oil good and topped up, an absoloute killer for the cvh.
i like them.
if you need any more help u2u me mate

I once did some ghetto wiring on an Escort for a sub using some twin and earth (striped out) cable for the power and earth cables
