The new look Max Power is just like Revs was back in the day. No Spine, just an observation. I assume this cuts publishing costs.

I know, but it is interesting watching the decline of the once most popular modded car mag.

Didn't Max Power have a complete re-vamp a year or two back?

I hated Max Power, but after one of the eds came online asking for what the peopel want, I gave it a few months and bought a copy.

It has drastically changed, and looked a lot how Redline USED to look. Less girls, much better cars, less adverts etc..

Whether they've kept this method im not sure.

But I know I wouldn't buy Fast Car (the new chavs mag that replaced Max Powers image), Redline declined massivly.

Not bought any in years now though, but Max power did attempt to make themselves better, so give them some credit.

Its that fast car sh1te thats full of chav stuff now. And to think I nearly took a career change there God what a mistake that would have been.

Only modified car based mag I buy every now and again is Fast Car.

Picked a Max Power up for a show report last year flicked through seen the pish that was in and put it back on shelf!

Performance VW
Golf +
BMW Car
Total Vauxhall

Are far less "chav" but I still enjoy an odd copy of FC

April '06' Corsasport Feature Car | Aug '08' Total Vauxhall Feature Car | Spring '09' Fast Car Feature Car

It's shifted quite a lot though jambo.

It's all subtle / sleeper / performance / rat look / VAG

So it's not as over the top as it used to be... therefore you probably don't notice the 'modified cars' as much.

Just wait till FATF 4 comes out, then it'll be re lit up

i agree paul, but my point still stands i see none. Never seen RAT on the road (presumably as they are all stuck at the local MOT station)

I see a few corrados and mk2 golfs but then i live on the cusp of little India in Maidenhead and theres always been a plethora of old vws and shifty looking Bmw/mercs hanging around.

Granted they are harder to spot but i love my cars and notice every single one on my journeys.

I think its more to do with the low cost modern cars which last longer, depreciate faster and untill recently the ease of obtaining finance on newer more expensive cars.

true...

plus I think young people get insured on faster cars much easier?

I remember when I was 17/18, I got raped trying to insure a 1.2 16v corsa. Trying to insure a VTR was far worse enough £3800 was my quote .

These days I see on 106 forums, 18 year olds with 106 gti's as first car... wtf?

Because we were stuck with 1.2 16v's which were slow, we modded them to look better, as it was pointless modding the engine for speed.

apart from the middle pages coming loose, i normally prefer stapled mags, as the pictures don't distort near the folds.

i bought 1 max power last year because it had a free nuts or zoo mag with it.
