Been looking at getting a new car
Looking at Astra Vxr's and I had kinda made my mind up but started looking at other cars too...
So far I'm liking the Corsa Vxr and I am also very tempted with an Evo VI
My current Astra disagree's with me which is whats putting me off the Vauxhalls
Are the Vxr's much better and reliable than the Mk4 Gsi turbo?

S3 was in the list when I got the Astra, felt quite uninspired by it, same with the golf
Accord I hadn't thought of, but I'd rather an ek9 type r

Sorry but out of a corsa/astra VXR and an Evo 6 it's got to be the Mitsi surely?

Bit of a big difference between a Corsa VXR and an Evo isn't it!
Only thing not yet considered is a Focus ST......

Evo's are money pits, Astra VXR imo, the only thing that goes on them are the turbo's but no more than the ZLET

I've changed the turbo twice on mine so could probably do it with my eyes closed
Thats whats putting me off tbh, and it's about the only thing putting me off them

Yeah i can see your point, i was constantly worrying/waiting for my turbo to go and it never did its the Genuine vaux turbo's they'r utter poo tbh, i know a lad that had a turbo from Essex turbos on his, and he did over 60K on that turbo, never let it warm up correctly or run down.

Current turbo
Brand new VXR from coutenay
6k and starting to whine
It will be replaced before I sell the car, and I hope it's the last time I mess about with a zlet turbo

The Vaux turbo's are the only thing that let the ZLET/ZLEH down imo, theyre hopeless

Not too sure, he got the car from new, remapped, was putting out 280bhp apparently. Was running it on normal unleaded, took a chunk out the valve.
Thats the explination vauxhall gave anyways, new engine with no map and its been fine.

I would say the VXR's are more reliable than the GSi's yes but i think that was due to the GSi running higher power. My dads GSi had a lot of power but it wasnt always the best. Thinking about it now tho the Nurburgring is alot more reliable
