hi guys, whats a good 50mm lens for my 40d, iv seen the canon 50mm 1.8 II, is it any good or would the sigma 2.8 be better.............

Official Canon for me every time. I got mine for about £50 brand new (6 months ago!) and really sharp. Wouldn't even consider the Sigma TBH.

I would deffinately recomment a canon 50mm. Brilliant lense, great in low light conditions too with the super wide aperature

I have a Canon 50mm 1.8 II -- it's the nuts but I don't use it much.

would the canon 2.5 macro 50mm be better, i can get one for £170
