Anyone done it? I bought a towbar to suit my 3door B.
It's one of the long bar types rather than the short type that bolts through the boot floor as far as I can tell.
So I assume it bolts onto the rear beam near each hub somewhere and then run the wires into the boot and connect them to one of the rear light clusters?
Or am I better off just dropping it into a local garage with £100 or so?

It can't bolt to the rear beam - that moves.

Well it allows the chassis to move, it would still stay a fixed position above the ground.
But yeah it's more likely to be the chassis legs.
Is it gonna be a pain in the arse? Am I going to have to drill holes in my car? And how am I best to route the wiring into the boot?

I've got motorbikes you see. So they need towing around the place to trackdays and what have you. I think it'll be good with a redtop in it for towing. It's not bad with a 1.2.
I'll be 'sleepering' the car when the redtop's in aswell. Back to black bumpers and black arches. So a towbar can help the image
I am tempted to get it fitted by someone.

Yup, this thread is rearing its ugly head again. I had a looksy at fitting this today.
Can anyone see how it fits? I'm thinking it might go behind the bumper, because there's a big plate that goes down, only for the tow bar hookup part to come back up again.
But then those 2 brackets would have to bolt 'upwards' into the chassis. I'm all a bit lost.
Anyone got any instructions or done one similar?

You need to cut your bumper to fit it, old one had a towbar

Take your rear bumper off mate all will become apparrent.
There are 4 dimples in the rear panel that you drill through to fit those rectangular plates then two more dimples for the long bar. Its harder to describe then it is to actually do once your bumper is off you'll see how it fits.
I have a tow bar on my 12v for towing my motorbike trailer lol

My rear bumper's already cut. And thanks for that ian!
I'm amazed how damn expensive bike trailers are though! Last time I bought one I paid £70 for a 3 bike trailer, you'd be lucky to get a kick in the nuts for that now.

You do have to cut the bumper but its only a tiny bit and is covered up by the tow bar.
Also there are 2 types of tow bar i'm pretty sure they are not interchangeable.
The one you have there is a post 97 model if your car is a 1.2 8v it will be pre 97 and that bar may not fit.
Of course i might be full of shiiiit only way to tell is to wip the rear bumper off.

Yeah mine's a pre '97. Didn't know there was actually any difference other than the actual bumper.
Title of the eBay auction I bought it off says it fits 1994-2000 Corsa. So here's hoping!
I'll just suck it and see. I've got plenty of cable ties and gaffer tape if it's not 100% perfect.

Will more then likely fit then.
An easy way to tell is if you pull back the carpet on the rear panel and find the 4 dimples in the panel. If you've got the dimples it will fit
have fun

And it just bolts through the bottom of the boot? Sounds so 'bodgey'.
But hey, if that's how they work then fine!
