definately clutch release bearing, fairly cheap to do just hassle

Yep is release bearing and it is worth getting a new clutch, because once one you replace the bearing then the clutch will go soon after, so just get it all replaced. I have the same problem and i was told £120 for everything including the clutch.

rattling wen the clutch pedal is lifted?
so with the clutch engaged?
its more likely to be a gearbox problem than the clutch release bearing,

it could well be the bearing but i wouldnt get your hopes up
