If your running phase 2 you will most likely blow the diff out the f20 gearbox.
At 70mph in 5th gear on a f20 you will be in & out of boost.

Could a longer 5th gear be put into the f20 box to solve that?

All the ratios in the F20 are the same as the F28 except one has an extra gear.
As people say though I wouldnt want to be doing much motorway driving on an F20, and you will have to be more gentle with an F20 than you would have to be with an F28, but there are people who have run fairly high power through them and had them last.

If its a toy and not your daily drive you will be taking all over the country then by all means use the F20 for a bit. If you NEED it to be on the road all the time then get an F28 as soon as you can. I busted my F28 at santa pod once and its a horrible feeling not having a car for work and being forced to fix it when you really have better things to do.

That was around 290BHP but only in 3rd gear and above, the apexi was set to standard boost for 1st and second for traction reasons.
Thats why the revs go round pretty much as fast in third as they did in second!

no ideas really. the prices on apexi stuff has rocketed though. i had an avcr in my corsa a few years ago. it cost 180 new. i sold it 2 years later for 180. theyre now nearly 400 quid.
im not sure if someone bought them out and kept making the stuff, ive no ideas. i just rememeber a story about them either going bust or closing down for some reason. pretty sure it was going bust.

Some people have no probs running f16s/f20s, others destroy box after box.
They usually destroy themselves in 3rd/4th/5th when youve got grip......
Theres no stress on the box when your wheelspinning, hence 1st/2nd usually survive.
And just looking at the size/width of input shaft on a f28 shows why the f28 is so much stronger than a f20/f16......

If you can't afford to do it properly the first time, wait until you can. A conversion and the word cheap in the same sentence is asking for trouble.
