hi, i have just put the engine in and conected the wiring loom etc.
the problem is the engine turns over but there is no power getting to the fuel pump. at the relay there is power to the large red and small red. no power to the red and blues. when i put a voltage tester to the small brown and white cable the relay clicks. if i then put another wire from earth to the small brown and gray at the relay the fuel pump kicks into life. does it mean a earth fault some were. any ideas would be appreciated

Has the ecu got power going to it?

yes i have conected the permanent lice and switch live. tested for voltage. both ok. the 3 earths on the fuel rail connected. i have changed the relay still the same. if i bupass the relay the pump starts but still wont fire up.

Is youe ECU light coming on when you turn the ignition on?

no just the battery and airbag. do you think the ecu is fried.

Doubt it, was it running before? Sure youve done the ignition swithed live right?

ihave connected the switch live / thin black wire from the 9 pin plug to the switch live on the loom inside the engine bay/ thin black wire. does the permanent live from the 9 pin plug run to the large red wire inside the engine bay. thanks for your help,

the engine and loom was out of the car when i bought it, so i dont no if it was ok. do you think there could be a break in the switch live.

sounds like the same problem i have. whta is the shell your mate ie sport ,1.2sxi??

its a gsi i have put a test lamp on the pins on the ecu and the switch live is getting to the ecu . only nothing comming out. guna try another ecu
