Don't really want this to turn into a flaming thread.
I was speeding and accept it.

I was wondering though, when I pay the fine and accept the points for speeding should I tell insurance straight away or do you wait till the renewal date?

i renewed by insurance recently and when i got the docu's threw i had a read of them. Said, that you should tell your insurance company but wont affect your premium until next renewal. Although there are some catergories of points that they will affect your premium right away. Drink Drivng etc.

id be suprised if your premium was affected atall by a normal speeding offence. i got stopped by sneaky traffic cops doing 98 the other week!!!! not gonna say owt till renewal tho, when i got my first points i didnt send my counterpart to the dvla so i had a clean and dirty licence. 1 official and 1 for the insurance company

10 internet points to you. What would of happened if you crashed into someone and because you didn't declare the points your insurance was void?

how did you get away with that?

for once the copper was a decent bloke, he could see that although i was going too quick the dual carriageway was empty, conditions were good, my car is only a year old and in top condition, and i wasnt swerving all over the place.

its not often they take everything into account, was extremely relieved to get away with 3pts and £60 fine.

I read an article that said 3 points is so common now itwon't affect most premiums. In some cases, having points will actually bring a premium down, as past cases show that people with 3 points are much more careful, not wanting any more.

But don't go out looking to get flashed thinking you'll get cheaper car insurance

i heard a rumour that people with 9 points were generally more careful drivers as they were approaching a ban.

but if they were that careful then how did they get the 9 points

so i have to declare my points straight away! i fort it was when the renewal was due - as it doesnt change anything until new year

dam that traffic cop, and one spot with 1.5mm tread

i dout it will affect me, as its not like speeding of anything, so insurance company wont care much???
