A friend of mine sold his Iphone on ebay.
He had an email through from "paypal" to say the money had arrived and of course shipped it off.. only to later find that the email was fake.

As it didnt go through paypal, does anyone know if theres anything he can do?

No, you need a court order to do that.

TIP OF THE DAY

use 1 account for email, and another for PayPal

any "fake" emails sent to your email account will be more obvious

Well, there has been developments with this!
The poor chap has been ringing round, speaking to as many people as possible (inc the police) and didn’t manage to get anywhere with it.
Yesterday he set off from Bath to Kent at 3am, arriving at the local depot at 7.30am. Spoke to the manager who was very sympathetic, but still couldn’t legally do anything about it, the parcel still had to be delivered by law.

However, they did ring the police who followed the delivery van driver to the address and waited in a car. When the driver arrived, the house was boarded up, clearly no-one living there. When the driver approached the house a man stepped out from a van to claim the parcel, only to be nicked by the police!

The courier company said they won’t try to re-deliver and it will be sent back to the sender via the normal channels, so great result for him!

According to the courier manager, it’s really frequent in the Kent area, its full of immigrants all doing the same because thats where there slipping over the channel from.
1 nil to the people of England I say.
