Does anyone no how i can do this! just want to have a switch inside the car so i can turn my fan on/off when engine gets too hot! My fan doesn't cut in untill the temp is in the red so figured i could just wire up a switch to turn it on and off!?
Cheers.. mattcape

take a wire from each connector (2) on the fan switch( located on the drivers side bottom of the fan), and run them through the bay into the car and put a normal flick switch on the end of them !!

run them up past the light and at the back of the airbox, towards the suspension strut and ul see a loom going into the scuttle( where the wiper motor is) follow that ul find a bung that goes into the car pop that out and poke them through there, once uve done that get in the drivers side footwell and try and grab them with your hand,

this is easier out in daylight as you can see where the grpomet has been removed so you can see the wires easier!!!

Surely its better to find out why its not cutting in than putting in a switch..

It doesnt come in on most corsa's until about 98 i thought??

On my GSi (2.0 XE) it used to come in at 94/5 iirc think it had been set like that for the bigger engine.

Just do as Torsa says, it's piss easy.

put a cold running thermostat in the car, and if the fan cuts in when it reaches 100deg then thats about right so dont worry about it, car was designed for it to do that.. You'll just have problems like lilgaz has had.. Best advise i can give you is dont do it. Up to you tho

so is that normal for it to reach the red before the fan cuts in if so ill leave it but dont want to end up wrecking me engine!! not long had to get a new one fitted due to last one seizing up!

hmm seems like a good idea, mine always swithches off about 95 again so doesnt take long before it has to kick in again standing still. Would be a good idea if having to wait go up the strip at pvs when its really busy to keep it more at like 90.
Why did lilgaz have problems rich?

I've done this twice with two different switches, one of them rated at well over the running current, the way torsa g said and they both blew.

I remember being at a garage getting an MOT and the tester left it running. He asked me if I knew my fan wasn't working - he'd found out by the boiling water dripping onto him while inspecting the underside But he drew me an electrical diagram to fit one and it had a resistor in it I'm sure. Always thought that was why just a switch hasn't worked.
