Bit of a serious thread tbh so please dont take the piss,
last year i lost my nan after her health slowly deteriated then passed due to heart failure whilst in a stint in hospital,
In the last few months of my nans life my grandad acted like a full time carer for her, as a result of my nans death my grandad gave up and saw no point in living, he was drained, the docs said he had gone past the point of exhaustion.
He started to rapidly loose weight struglin to sleep, heartbroken and saw no more reason to be round, he got to the point of illness and weakness he had to go into hospital for a blood transfusion where they ran test and they came to the conclusion he had cancer'as blood cells in his body and prob had done for many months, this combined with bein heartbroken and exhausted was why his health had gone down hill so quick, he had always requested he never wanted treatment as he saw his mum suffer with cancer for months, he sadly passed away 10days later
Meaning i lost my nan and gdad 4 months and 7days apart, since then i have always felt i want something to remember them both by, my sister had a tattoo done illistarted below, it was taken from a card and is the exact handwriting of my nan, i have a few tattoos and feel i also want something and i have decided i want a small poem on the inside of my bicep by my arm pit, but i am strugglin to mind memerable words to express how i feel/felt for them. i wish i could write my own words but im just not that good at poetry, any sites, of anyone who is good at poems, basically any advice would be welcome

nice gesture mate!
iv had a poem of mine published (not that impressive as its only 1) im no expert tho! i would give it a go for you but the fact im on nightshift and my brains wrecked means im not even gonna try
not a huge fan of the sites that are out there but try allpoetry.com as you may get someone on there willing to have a bash at one, also as strange as it may sound have a look on bebo as the amount of poem groups on there is crazy and there really is a lot of good poets that would happily do it for you
keep us updated on how you get on

That's a great way to remember her though as everytime she looks down it'l be like she's reading it for the first time all over again.

if im being honest whilst i think its a good idea i think its something YOU need to do yourself, not someone off a forum. even if it takes you years to think up it should be your own words

Barnshaw's taken the words right out of my mouth. It doesn't matter if it' not a perfect poem if it expresses your feelings clearly. You're doing it for yourself, not for others after all...

Maybe a song that reminds you of them?
Use some of the lyrics from that song perhaps.
You may not of thought of it yourself, but its got meaning and that is what you are after.

what about
God saw you getting tired
and a cure was not to be
so he put his arms around you
and whispered,
"Come to Me"

Sit and write down any words that come into your head when you think of them. Don't try to string them together at first.
Also remember that poetry doesn't have to rhyme.
Maybe instead of writing a poem, have a fond memory summarised.

Just trying a different layout and wording...
Nan & Gramps
Loving, Caring & Wise
The Epitome of Perfect Grandparents
Love Always
Think about the space on your arm, and condense it to the core feelings.
You'll get there soon enough.
