When i have 1 or more in the rear of my car when you go down a pothole it makes a massive banging noise on the drivers side rear of the car but doesnt do it on the passenger side, the springs are fitted correctly as i had them checked over. i have lowered the car on 40mm b springs so im guessing it sits roughly about 50-55mm on my ET40 17's, any ideas what could be the problem? Cheers Scott

If its making a banging noise it could be the shocks bottoming out rather than rubbing. You're still using standard shocks arent you Scott?

I would say that running standard shocks would not help (if you are) and also if you are not planning on doing any arch workthen you could ideally do with some et49's as that is vauxhall offset.
however i would have imagined that if it was rubbing it would do it on both sides of the car.
if i were you i would look elsewhere for the banging noise, as if the tyres are rubbing, it is more of a rubbing sound as oppose to a banging noise.
p.s. does it make the banging noise no matter which side you hit the pothole on?
i.e. hitting pothole on drivers side, or passengers side?

Yeah i am but if the shocks were the fault then both them would do it

its like a creaking banging noise, like if you go down a dip in the road it will just be the drivers side that rubs, although it seems to do it all the time and the passenger side doesnt

It wouldnt be that the shocks are at fault, just because you have shorter springs on the back the shocks will sit closer to the bump stops and will be more likely to touch them if you hit a pot hole etc. Mine do this sometimes
Doesnt sound like its rubbing though dude

my car also has the same problem however it is the exhaust hitting the rear axle that makes most noise i solved this some spring ajusters from demon tweeks and also had my arches rolled
