the first one will replace free of charge if they break so i presume they will be strong as they dont want to be exchanging many!
win win situation i recon but thats my 2pence worth!

i see what you are saying yes and id like to think that they are that confident they wont break. im off to fit a calibra shaft shortly to get the car running again will then order up one of them short ones. or if the calibra shaft fits nice, will just get some spares of them off the bay.

aye short shaft fitted grand this afternoon indeed. i borrowed it off a mate, who also has an equal length set up in the same duck taped towel. might just "borrow" that aswell and buy him another.

Only one way to find out Nic, trial and error.
I'm contemplating buying an Ebay CV joint as I've given up on the idea of rebuilding mine.

dont need to bother with ebay shafts for now. scrap yard trip see me mate who works in one, see how much i can buy 2 or 3 calibra 16v short driveshafts for. ten quid with cv's is better than 70 odd for a conversion one plus cv joints.

the only problem with the calibra short shaft its about 2-3mm to long and it will put pressure on the wheel bearing the best way of getting round this is to grind another reccess for the cv circlip to sit in 3mm further up the shaft, simple and does the trick!!!!

doesnt seem too long at all however? seems to be, well part of it was snapped, but pretty much identical length to the conversion shaft i took out.

ive been using the calibra shafts for years, never had a wheel bearing go on mine cause of it being too long, 100 times better then the after market ones also as there equal lenth.

but that moves the gearbox closer to the passenger side, ie making more of an issue with the calibra shaft, yet it seems fine.
