Just gone to change the brake pads on my C, and found grease everywhere on the inside of my wheel and round the hub etc

Quick play shows the CV boot is loose (I can just slide it off) so grease has gone everywhere.

Got the clip off, which seems to only hold together with 5 little pins? (See pic) Checked on the other side which is fine, and there doesn't seem to be any clip missing etc, but just wondering how you're meant to get it to hold together, as it's quite clearly not!

Advice needed ASAP please!!

Cheers,

Rich

Where it is (just behind disc):

The clip:

If not, going to have to try and hold it on with a jubilee clip if I can find one big enough!

Also, can I just chuck a bit more grease in there to compensate for the stuff that's lost?

Cheers!!

Are you talking about the rubber gaitor?

Yes - on the passenger side it's on there nice and tight, held on with one of the above clips thats closed (can't see how it holds on tbh)

On the drivers side, this has come undone and grease has come out everywhere, hence I need to know if that clip can be done back up or whether just to fasten it back on with something else.

Joe & Markus - Cheers guys. Haven't got any jubilee clips big enough atm unfortunately, so looks like it'll have to be the ghetto cable tie!!

Cable tie probably won't be up to the job. Give it a go though.

Yeh It's just so I can finish it off for tonight tbh. I probably won't even drive it till I get a clip, I'll just move it out the way on the drive

Cheers y'all

When I needed a new one my mechanic put on cable ties instead of jubilees, said they hold it on better for some reason. Mine also came off because it was hard and not flexible, making it come off frequently, so bare that in mind.

Well it's bodged with a cable tie but pretty sure it's not on there quite as well as it should be. Will feel happier with a jubilee clip on there so need to try and track one down during the week.

Managed to clean most the grease off, but was a hell of a lot on there
