my pulley is pritty much touching the car, there is no way i can get a belt onto it!

has any1 else had this problem?

is there different alternator mounts? or different pulley?

Take it it's a multi-V belt? I've Got this problem, only mine has about 5mm of clearance - just enough to slip a belt through sideways. It rubs like a bitch when taking left turns hard though.

If you got a different alty mount you'd only be able to move it on one axis so the bottom pulley and (possibly) PAS pump are lined up with it.

I keep telling myself that I'm getting single-V pullied stuff to stop it happening, but it's quite expensive and a bit time consuming to do so I've never gotten round to it.

But if it's so far over that you can't get a belt through it sounds like a fucked mount/s. Post up a pic if you can.

i got a spare alternator of a 2.0 8v with a v blet and pulley, so ill just put that on! thanks

arent 2.0 8v pulley different to the 16v ones, im pretty much positive they are

not sure, but im hoping to use the xe crank pulley, and the 2.0 8v alternator with a v belt, should work!!

it 99.9% sure there different style of pulley

What sort of crank pulley are you using? Mulit or single V?

not true, i brought a new alternator for my c20xe couple of years ago and that was a single v belt

i had this prob with my car jack, i just beat the shell a little to give it a bit more clearance

i done it now, i used the xe pulley xe alternator and the 8v belt! seems to work fine, still only a little clearence if any tho, mount get new mounts
