Asking on here as you guys are always good of usefull advice!
Its for my MK2 Golf gti 16v
Basically i have noticed a knocking noise when i begin to release the clutch to pull off. Its like a weird 2 knock/cranking noise.
Doesnt do it straight away usually, but after 10mins of driving it starts to do it everytime i pull off and release the clutch pedal, from traffic lights and so on.
Any ideas what the problem is? and needs to be changed?
Cheers!

This has been happening to my corsa, on mine its the clutch release bearing, so this could be the same problem.
With regards to what needs changing, the whole clutch needs to be replaced otherwise the clutch will go after a while. Hope this helps.

so the problem is the clutch release bearing?
I thought the clutch release bearing was a seperate cheap part?
so why would the whole clutch need replacing? clutch otherwise seems to be fine in other gears- no slipping etc.
Edit - from researching.... could be wishbone ball joint? CV joint? or front mount?

I am not 100% how it works but i have been told that its better to replace the clutch becuase everything needs to be taken out to replace the bearing.
My corsa is fine through the gears as well.

Id check everything to be honest, as when your pulling away it could be putting load on somthing that is lose and causing it to clunk.
