engineering is very broad; what specific engineering roles are you looking for?

tbh, if its mechanical engineering I'd only go to one place. I'd try to get on to one of the BAE System graduate training schemes.

I studied Naval Architecture/Marine Engineering and was offered a place not on the GTS as I'd already worked in industry but as an apprentice/junior to one of the senior engineers - I'd have taken it if it was anywhere in the world but Barrow-on-Furness.

It is mechanical, got knocked back by BAE

I've decided to stay in Aberdeen now, stick with oil & gas. GTS's have all pretty much closed now, oops

have you tried any of the shipyards - THe marine industry is having a bit of a boom at the moment and working on larger scale ships might be worth looking at.

No - haven't really looked, don't really want to move away from here at the moment. Don't want to leave my life behind for a job, would rather hold out until next year I think...

Silly I know, but just my thoughts

I was the same which is one of the reasons I didn't take the BAE job - that and Barrow is a dump

I'll jump on board and say, if anyone sees/has a 3 month contract for a Solidworks operator then I'll do it

I can do anything on Solidworks, apart from surface modelling...

My place seem to keep taking on CAD Engineers, that's what I do (mostly)

If you can do IES then you'd probably be guaranteed We only have a couple of people that can do that at the mo

That's ok because we don't do that Architects send us DWG's (or sometimes PDF's because they're stupid ) and we design the mechanical and electrical services

I would post up a visual example but I'd be fired, so won't

With IES I think you draw over the top of DXF files or something, then it puts it together and makes a building
