hey new to this so hope iv got thw right section lol

erm iv got a 2.0L redtop corsa B but iv got a problem the engine was working all fine untill it was left for like a year then ran it but it started to overheat i didnt let it get too hot though i switched it off anyway iv not ran it in time so now i came too turn it over it wont start. it sound like there is no compression there for it to kick in.

could this be the head gasket you think ?

any help would be mint thanks

sounds like a HG failure tbh, get a compression test done and it will narrow things down a lot more for you, other than that, whip the head off just for a ganders (mate of mine did this to his 14xe for fun.... daft monkey)

Could be a number of things tbh.

Did it have enough coolant in it?

Did you flush the fuel lines and tank as one year old petrol will be like glue?

Did you service it before you started it?

If you just expect an engine that has stood for a year to be fine on it's own then you will get problems like these.

I suspect your water pump will be seized. Or a sticking thermostat.

yeah mate it had coolant but it drank it soo im thinking it was the head

by the way going abit off topic here but can anyone tell me what a power cap does =/ sorry im abit of a noob at redtops at the mo but im learing

isnt there a part on the engine mate thats called a power cap and it goes liike over the throttle body

yes there is and its ment to add around 10bhp cos it lets more air in than the sfi box apparantly

thanks for your help guys

slight up date iv done the head and everything but it wont start still orthough it sounds better and it sounds like it wants to go this time. iv checked iv got spark and thats alright and iv got fuel

the only thing i could thinnk of it timeing is out bt iv like changed that 10 times looking to see if its out or not (obvs tested it by hand 1st befor starting it) could the dizzy be wrong like ?

good news it runs we toed it and bumped it yay

1 problem thoughh when it gets to 3k revs it like judders and looses power anyone have any idea ?

it seems too tick over ok i think, its abit over fueling though because it even back fires and flames lol , i will check it though any other sugesttions ?

could well be mate, i might try a crank sensor 1st because that looks like its seen better days lol but befor it back fires it sounds like it takes a massiv gulp in of air
