the fear those men must have had in their hearts as they approached the landing points is incomprehensible to me

i am eternally grateful for their sacrifice

the ultimate sacrifice

People would do well to remember the sacrifice these men made so that they could go around robbing old grannies and generally disrespecting the freedom they have.

If those men could see the state of Britain right now they wouldn't have bothered.

Would you have bothered? Knowing that in 60 years time your country is overun with immigrants, your every movement is monitoerd, benefits pooring out of their arses.

I wouldn't have.

I have nothing but respect for the guys that took part on that day (and the entire war infact)

Over the last year I've been fascinated with it and watch anything on WW1&2. I couldnt begin to imagine what they went through on that day. Without a doubt in my mind, heroes.

RIP to those that fell that day. You did our country proud, i have nothing but total respect for you.

I've done national service at 17, it really is something people underestimate and people tend to think it is a nuesance, but it did me the world of good.

National service is something sadly lacking in the UK. You either do that or some kind of humanitarian volunteer work if not medically suitable over here. The difference is clear in the way people treat each other.

I never get bored of hearing stories/watching documentaries about this. It puts EVERYTHING into perspective!

I find it hard to comprehend what went on and what these fella's actually did. I get quite emotional when I think about it and I didn't even lose anyone!

As much as I enjoy watching BoB & SPR I don't like the attitude adopted by the directors and writers where by the British seem to play such a small part and when they do turn up they are often shown to be making mistakes etc.

Just they remember we fought for 2 years without their help and only joined the war once Russia got their act together.

Unlike alot of people I very often preach to people about how lucky we are, its a shame so many people dont realise these days. I think it should be one of those things drilled into our heads at a young age. People need to have more respect. I was also thinking today I should probably make the most of the opportunity while I still can and go and meet some of these people and honor them in person. Its something I think about alot, shame so many people just arent aware anymore.
