how could it have been garaged / SORN all its life and do 41k miles!!
anyway - this may sound nasty but dont waste your money on the engine. If you want performance and MUST have it in the shape of a corsa just fit a more powerfull engine. It will be cheaper in the long run.
OR just save that cash for your next car

XE, V6 or LET. Anything else would be worthless!

v6 in a corsa is a STUPID idea. Pointless, too heavy etc.
a decent 1600 16v is prob the best idea.

Really dont want to open this can of worms again but have you ever driven one? This monstrous weight you speak of doesnt affect them really if you get the right suspension setup. They are actually really planted, handle fine and with the torque of the V6 and smooth nature they make a very nice daily driver. I prefer them on the road to a revvy jerky 16XE or 20XE any day of the week.

a daily driver that doesnt go round corners fast.... yes...
Why fit a huge engine just to plod along.

They do go round corners fast, the extra weight helps turn in and traction belive it or not.
I had one for a few months and it was a really good car to drive.
If you havnt driven one you cant comment and thats that. Even then if it was just on lowering springs it would handle shit. they need good dampers with custom springs - then they handle well.

righto
a big heavy engine over/forward the front wheels is always a design trait of the best handling cars

Works in all the other cars with the same engine configuration? Granted its no ariel atom but it handles as well as any other 200bhp fwd hatch would. Its only like 50kg difference anyway so hardly a lot, get it cornerweighted if your that bothered.
Drive one before you comment, proof is in the pudding.

so your telling me an Alfa 147 GTA is a good handling car?

Never driven one, so i couldnt comment. infact i dont think ive ever even been a passenger in any sort of alfa.
Its not a 147 though, its a corsa V6. Ive driven tonnes of hot hatches, and the corsa V6 felt like any other 200bhp fwd car ive driven.

Handles fine to me, if i wanted to build the best handling fwd car money could buy id buy a honda itr or ek civic and go from there.
Otherwise, any fwd transverse car with a torsion beam rear axle is never going to be a tarmac terror so id make the most of whats available to me.
Corsa V6 makes a good allrounder, its not a focussed track weapon but being so would be no good for the road. So ill make a compromise and have something thats easy to live with daily but can still get a move on when its asked to, instead of an on the limit car that requires thrashing the tits off it to move anywhere in a hurry and has suspension so stiff it breaks your back everytime you go over a cats eye.

No ive admitted they wont handle like a track focussed equivalent. But as a road car they handle wel enough to get you in and out of trouble easily.

A V6 with F20 weighs the same as an LET with F28.So i cant see how its gonna be a bad handling car when the LET conversion is rather popular and has never been mentioned to have bad handling.

i had a c20xe corsa..... it was too front heavy.
LET's are not very good at handling well. They can be made to with a lot of work and expense.

That probably the biggest load of shit i've heard on here for a while, it does NOT improve turn it, think of it this way why is a dart heavy at the front? so it goes in a straight line easier, same applies to cars. You can make it better with different springs etc but it will always never be as good as a lighter or even 50/50 weight distributioned car.
It will improve traction though....in a straight line.

Same theory applies to turn in. If you want a bike to have more initial turn in you move the weight distribution nearer the front, because on any object with momentum the light end always follows the heavy end, not the other way around.
Darts are weighted at the front, as if they were weighted at the rear the front would have no control over its direction of travel.
The weight controls the direction of travel, so if you point that weight in a different direction the rest will follow post haste.
Like i said initial turn in is improved but on long, sweeping fast bends it can induce extra understeer.
Above all a corsa isnt a 5050 split focussed track car, i dont give a toss what any of you critics say - they make a good road car and you have to drive one to understand it, otherwise STFU!

my god.... NO
the car will try and follow the weight STRAIGHT, as the weight is acting against the best efforts of your tyres and suspension to trun in. You'll have traction.... but you'll have a lump just trying to go straight on.
Hello Understeer!!!

I will tell you how to improve turn in, put all weight in between front and rear wheels so having a low polar moment of inertia, have a small caster angle, have a stiffer rear end than the front. NOT putting extra weight on the front.
