Just out of interest, for the people who work. During the weekdays what do you eat for lunch?

My last two employers have both had staff canteens serving nice food. So I always used to have lunch in the canteen. I'm now working somewhere without any on site food facilities... Luckily we have a sainsburies and a waitrose near by, so I often just have a drink and wrap / sandwich from there. However, I'm spending a lot on 'lunches' £3 for wrap + £1 for drink... it all adds up. Plus they arn't the healthiest (the amount of cals wraps etc have due to sugary sauces etc).

So... What do you eat for lunch during the week at work?

Used to buy lunch, now make wraps or sandwiches at home to take in. Saving loads that way. Every day this week I've had roast lamb and yorkshire pudding wraps left over from Sunday, pretty tasty!

I went to help myself to some bottled water in the kitchen a month or so ago and got told off, as it was 'Customer Water' (for when customers come on site) - not for employees...

How tight is that!

I usually eat from the canteen.

They do proper meals and have a sandwich bar too.

Expensive and unhealthy though. Might start bring lunch in my transformers lunchbox TBH.

Fussy.....

Ham sandwhiches. Bagettes, tiger bread etc..

I go buy it from Tescos and make it at work.

I wander aimlessly for ages sometimes though trying to decide.

Breakfast is always at Greggs, Sausage and bean or something
Lunch varies, Mcdonalds, KFC, BK, Subway, Pub depending on my mood
During the day chocolate and biscuits and crisps are supplied in the kitchen

Spend about a fiver a day, totally unhealthy and slowly dying, but its ok I enjoy it

That's the thing...

-Spending £3-£5 a day adds up
-The easy option is the unhealthy option
-The tasty option is the unhealthy option

I could probably allow it if it didn't cost me so much in petrol.

I think I worked out the other day that, EACH DAY costs me £12 in fuel going to and from work.

so add on £4 - £5 lunch = £17.

£17 x 5 days = 85,
* 52 = £4420 a year

Plus I noticed I've been gaining weight while working here (at a desk doing nothing all day), so I want to try to eat cheaper / healthier.

The problem with bringing in food from home is A ) keeping it fresh B ) I generally hate eating 'old food' from home. C ) practicability of (can I be bothered to make it before going to work... if done in batch, see A ).

i usually make a baguette at home and have various fillings although i prefer Blt or tuna mayo.
sometimes i change is about and have a baked potato or left over from the night before.
if i get up late and have no time to sort anything i'll go asda or maccy's.

either sandwiches from home, or i'll buy either a ginsters pasty, or tikka slice from tescos. Sometimes buy a pot of corronation chicken filler and a half french stick to dip in it. If i'm lucky i'll have some left over dinner from a previous night that i'll bring in.

If i'm out on the road i can claim for my lunches, so i'll stop and get a McD's, BK, Wimpy or Subway.

I make sandwiches for me and the mrs each morning. Only takes 5 minutes

Today I had turkey and stuffing which was left over from the roast I made last night and with a cake, snickers type bar, crisps and a yoghurt still cost a lot less than the £5 I would have spent in the canteen

We also have a tuck shop in work so usually get a drink from there. Canteen charges £1.20 for a bottle of lucozade, tuck shop is 50p
