My mates MK2 Astra has just failed it's MOT on the idle speed, its idleing at about 1400rpm and dont know how to knock it down.
I've changed the ICV. All the pipes are tight and when you remove them the revs rise, when you connect them back up they fall to about 1400 rpm.
It's got a power cap on. I've nipped up all the bolts from the TB to the mani and the power cap to the TB. I can't get to the ones for the mani to the head but they were all torqued up before the engine went back in.
Here's a vid that I did..........

One extra thing. When it starts up 1st thing it is fine. Idles at 900 rpm. It's just when it warms up when all this happends.

Have you adjusted the throttle positioning sensor?

Didn't think you could?
Both butterflys are shut. I've unscrewed the stop screws making sure that they are not keeping it open.

There should be a black block thing on the left hand side (if your facing the throttle body) Unscrew the to screws slightly so the there is play in the sensor and slowly turn it with the engine running to see if that helps.
I fitted a new one to my 20xe and it idled at 1100 rpm until i done this now its back down to 850rpm.

Ok cheers. It's worth a try. Can't see it taking more than 5 mins. I'll do that tomorrow when I get round to his.
