Think this will always be an ongoing problem with Corsa's. Does anybody here have 2.0 brakes that actually work well and why are mine gash? I've heard of people using a Mondeo master cylinder?

V6 brakes and braided hoses are the way forward. If running 16" wheels then you could get 308s in I think.

EDIT: on a budget anyway. Billet multi piston caliper brakes are actually the best bet if you're not short of cash I think.

My only issue is the travel on the pedal and spongy feel. Got braided hoses but still god awful stopping power. My mates standard brakes on his 306 rallye stops like nothing i've ever driven. Jealous of his brakes lol

v6's on mine seemed to stop well enough but they are heavy as fook and affected the handling due to unsprung weight.

Are cav/cally turbo brakes lighter? If so use them stopped my big heavy calibra well enough

Master cylinder is too small for V6 brakes really.. I'm running them but the brake travel is a joke! Thats with braided hoses and after pressure bleeding.

Still never seen a definitive answer on the replacement master cylinder question

loads of people "say" they have found a suitable replacement but cant give the details

Agree with Davey, pedal travel takes some getting used to - but they do have good stopping power with a limited amount of fade.

Yeah never going to really have fade problems, the car is too light lol

I'm used to it now but anyone who drives my car tends to shit them selves .

comparing the brake travel on my gfs Gsi and my old 1.4sport, id recommend a post 97 one (if there actualy is a difference) as brakes where far less spongey

What about some wilwoods or hispec calipers etc specifically for a Corsa? Surely they would've been designed to work with the original master cylinder?

They are designed to work with an aftermarket pedal box generally.. But then you have the problem of having no servo assistance.

It's better when I go and drive some other car, try and push the pedal near to the floor and end up with a head all but through the windscreen

ive got meriva 280mm brakes with braided hoses, not spongey and stop very well

the calipers are off a meriva.
i'd say about roughly an inch then they get really sharp

Do you have any photos of them before you fitted them? I'd love to see the size of the slave cylinder? I'm guessing they are smaller than the V6/Turbo brakes

If they are smaller I'm going to get me a pair

i have V6 with braided hoses, as does my mate but for some reason mine have alot more travel than his. even after a few hours of bleeding lol. the travel is a pain in the arse but once the travel is used up mine are fantastic tbh.

didnt help mine tbh, and as said i spent a bloody long time bleeding them too. still i cant understand how my mate got his to feel like normal brakes :S

They fit onto the servo but the problem is the corsa has the servo on its back (90 degrees) and the corsa fluid reservior (sp) doesnt fit the bigger MC's so topping up would require putting the car on its nose

Could only imagine 308 calipers are very soft indeed, 284's are soft enough.
