Um, what you guys think? Basically, I'm running a 1.2 16v, and I'd got the car how I like it now. Thing is, do I have the transplant or not?
I wouldn't be doing it for about a year, but I would start work on it now(ish)... i.e. big brakes, rear discs, source new front suspension, bracing, etc, etc.
If I don't do the transplant, then there's no point in all this prep... I just can't decide whether I wanna convert it, or just get a different car?
Age old question I know, but what is everyones thoughts. Input from current 2L Turbo drivers would be good too (do you regret it or?)...
Cheers

do it,
what r ur reasons for getting a new car?
wot will you look for in a new car?
Why not keep a car u happy with and make it more to ur preference.
I recently thought i wanted a new car, but only cos i wanted something faster. I decided to keep the corsa and make it how i want it.

Its a big job, but if you think you can afford it, then yeah, why not go for it.
Alternativly, for the price of a 2.0litre Turbo fitting (and buying of the engine) you could get a 2.0litre and just put TB on it (leaving space for future work).
But go for it. Im never one to say not do an engine coversion (except to myself )

Yeah, I'd be looking for speed and handling really. Maybe just thought of starting with something which has a little more potential. Maybe a civic crx, or similar.

Yeah, thinking I might prefer the power curve of the 2L+TBs. Also get off the line a bit quicker.

Yeh, I reckon you should .
You say yourself you're happy with your car as it is at the moment .. and if it's the silver one Ive seen pics of - then Ive got to say I like it lots...

But then u will be back at square one, with a different car. Why not spend the extra on the corsa?
At least you know the corsa well.

Yeah, but Dump or TB, hmmmmm, Dump Valves are better for people outside, TB are better for listening to outside and inside.
I love DV, but TB, mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Tim,
Why not use the excellent CS search facility to find the information you need.
You could also look in the Tutorials and FAQ's section.

Yes, he knows all the problems and rattles.
An already old car will just deteriorate more over time, so in 1 year Timmay could be driving a spanking new car or his rattly 2.0 Corsa.

Well duurrrr, 2.0litre corsa.
Whats the fun in new cars, they are smooth, u dont have to work on them, if they go wrong u take them to the garage.
Thats not what modifying cars is about. I ahte it when D4 goes wrong, but its always fun trying to fix it (bar the £££)

Hehe, it doesn't rattle... much
Still that's gonna be solved when the rear comes apart for the boot build over the summer.

I thought modifying was all about making cars unsuitable for use on the public highways?
Lowering the cars so much that they can't go over speed bumps, etc.
Stiffening the suspension so our patchwork roads rock them to bits.
Tinting the windows so you can't even see through them in sunlight let alone at night.
Fitting an ickle iddy biddy number plate SO FCUKING TINY you can't read it when you've got it in your hand, let alone when you've stuck it in your rear window because your flush tailgate can't have a number plate on it.
Fit exterior lighting so that you look like a mobile disco as you drive along.
In case people aren't sure how you get water onto your windscreen, fit LED washer jets and they'll now know where the water comes from.
In case people don't know how to get air into your tyres, fit LED valve caps.
Fit tiny wing mirrors with virtually no visibility. Why would you want to see cars in the lanes next to you when driving on the Motorways anyway?
Fit a 5" bore exhaust system so any journeys result in you getting a splitting headache - that's what you bought the shares in Wyeth for I suppose.
Now THAT's modifying!

Tim,
Set the money aside to fit the mods when you come to transplant your engine.
If you fit the parts now, you'll no doubt have the car stolen or crash it or something - typical bad luck - so you'll lose out!
