My dad has just bought a VW Passat estate, 1.9tdi tiptronic.
Basically we were driving up a hill, reached the top and this horrible grating/scraping noise started. It was really loud, so we stopped the car, left the engine running and had a look, and it all looked fine, didnt appear to be coming from any of the belts, and it was really difficult to tell where it was coming from. He turned the engine off and back on again and it stopped. Any ideas? obviously he isnt happy, just bought a new car and its doing this. .
