Part of me think, meh - £6 is nothing.
But £6 x 14 million people = a fucking lot. Are they really going to spend £84 million on upgrading the networks? Probably not, just piss away the rest like usual.

How much do you know about the costs of networks? or the installation of fibre under public road?

£6 from every landline wont cover the cost of fibring up every house in the UK.
The increase on TV licence and the fact they are gunna force us to buy DAB radios etc etc is gunna do that.

Laying fibre would cost significantly more than 84 million, if they done that countrywide it would be worth it, that's doubtful though.

I don't really know what it costs for broadband, but have a pretty good idea for other utilities so don't imagine its much different.
What I'm saying is that like every other scheme in the UK, they'll probably pump money into wasteful areas, like laying a cable 10 miles to a village of 5 people, and leave the rest of the network as is.

if you really think about it.... of those who ACTUALLY pay tax.... I can forsee a huge shortfall in the actual amount raised to fund this looney bin idea.... it just adds to what the jobless fuckers who never work will be funded by the us mugs that work our arses off to put food on their tables.
( note, this is not a nattack on those poor soles who have been made redudant during these difficult times but those who go out of their way to never work)
it also gives the goverment a larger opportunity to monitor and restrict the information you have available...or download for that matter.
