Just a quick grumble, been doing some quotes today as I want to get back into some jap machinery. These are all as me being 25, with 5yrs NCB (oh and third party fire and theft!)

RX-7 - Group 20 ins = £850

S14 200sx - Group 18 ins = £675

Classic Impreza WRX - Group 17 ins = £1100

Why are the other two higher groups but cost less to insure!?

Only reason I can imagen is that Impreza's have quite a chavvy image these days, and they're getting cheaper so the chav's can afford them!

when i tried to insure one, im old, have many years no claims. i was getting quotes of about 800 quid. a 500bhp corsa with all mods declared (edit need to say im on 15's now not 16's actually) costs me pretty much just over half of that.

mental. hence i bought a vectra gsi.

The fact they are so cheap, have the chav image, are a TWOcer's dream car and do actually pack a fair punch are all bad for insurance.

Cheap, easy to steal and they are usually one of the 'first fast cars' people buy when they get to about 23-25. Consequently quite a few probably end up totalled.

You must be using the wrong company mate...They are a specialist car and so need a specialist to insure them

Try Rob at A Plan or Gary Moulson at Keith Micheals.Mines for sale now BTW

Yeah but if a specialist can get the Impreza price down, surely they can get the price down on the other cars I've mentioned too? Not complaining about the price as such, just surprised to see that 'groups' as it were, mean feck all

Also, I'm trying to spend half of what I got back for selling my 182, so £2,750 is my limit, although I'd rather spend less than that. So I'm not really looking for an RX-7, just dreaming! Have found a local S14 200sx for £2k though, might go check it out

How much are people paying for RX7 insurance? I've got a best quote of £1600, which I don't think I want to pay
