Need some new quick release skewers for the MTB.

Any recommendations? I think the ones I have now are Shimano and they came undone on me the other day on a descent so time to get some new ones!

£50 max. would be nice if they came in cheaper!

They were done up tight enough but they worked themselves loose.

They are cheapo ones that came with the bike. Been on there for 3 years and taken a lot of abuse, they should of been replaced before now really.

Standard axel yeah? Theres no need to spend £50! I've got a standard axel on the rear, the QR cost me just under £10 from chain reaction; its never come lose and I use the bike for freeride and downhill.

Cant remember what make it is though, its got really deep teeth on the washers, fucks the paint up on the frame but who cares

Yeah just standard axel. I dont mind spending a bit more to get something a bit more robust! My worst nightmare is the wheel coming off halfway down a descent

I heard you can get some with neoprene washers that are meant to be good but I'm not sure who makes them or how much they cost?! Any ideas?

Remember the branded stuff is all pretty much as good as each other when it comes to holding the wheel to the bike.. You only really pay more money for the light weight stuff for the anal XC boys, but the lighter weight stuff will not be as strong..

Just go for the Kore or Brand X items, they are robust enough.. If you are doing anything that needs more you should be running a 20mm front axel.

Cheers. Think I'm going to go down to Evans and have a look at the Mavic ones then I can try before I buy!
