A2 - restricted. Short notice one too, booked 2 hours ago for tomorrow morning, next available day is 3rd August

Still trying to decide what bike I want to upgrade from my RS to. Dizzy has told me to stay away from the 400's as they are overpriced for what they are, so im looking at 600's, to which he has recommended the CBR because its an allrounder with regards to handling, speed, and reliability - which tbh is the most important thing to me, any 600 is plenty plenty fast enough for the road, but it needs to be sporty looking so I can wear my power ranger suit with pride

Good luck mate

And I'd go straight to 600's. 400's are all getting very old now, and if you're sensible then riding a 600 is fine.

Is this the Module 1 or Module 2? Good luck though They are both relatively easy to pass! Module 1, only thing with doing it on a 125 is getting upto speed after the long corner!

Bike depends on what you feel most comfy on, faired, unfaired, tourer, sports tourer, sports, etc etc...

Mod 2 - road test. Passed the mod 1 on Monday, nailed the RS out of the long corner, having no speedo was actually more helpful as I wasnt staring at it trying to get the required speed

Good luck with it Danny.

I, myself, have just come back from my module 2 test and I failed. I failed because I was going slightly too fast in a 20mph zone (I didn't realise it was a 20 until it was too late, my fault really as I should have familiarised myself with the routes more)

It was 5 minutes into my test and the examiner told me to slow down. When she said that I knew I had failed and just wanted to go back to the test center . I also got 2 minors for signals. Booked a resit for the 17th though.

Needless to say I am pretty gutted as I was going to buy an SV650 tomorrow.

Remember mirrors, lifesaver look, and indication, and road positioning (esp on roundabouts).

Relaxed, chilled, by keep your concentration, u'll pass. Break a leg...

Dizzy is going to either cable tie or Chemweld my speedo drive so the fucker works for more than 10km tomorrow, im thinking I am going to need a speedo

Mirrors is also going to be a little bodge, are you allowed to adjust them while you are either going along or stationary? Because my left one flaps in automatically when going above 50mph No amount of tightening will stop it doing this, Dizzy will vouch for.

Also whats the deal with flipping into neutral as you roll up to lights, I assume this is a big no no, as is resting an arm on the tank at the lights?

My my ive developed some terrible habits in 2 months

The u-turn and slalom was not difficult whatsoever, and as said, is covered on mod 1 anyway now. The 'high speed' avoidance exercise was by far the trickiest bit

How you use the gears is up to you, but I wouldn't put it in N, its like doing that in a car, showing your not in control (yeah yeah.....).

Do mirrors before hand. Adjust them when you are stationary.

Remember its a test, do it by the book, or your fail. Once you've passed, you actually start to learn to ride a bike.

I was always told when waiting at lights for a period of time to select neutral and to put your left foot firmly on the floor and your right foot holding the rear brake. Release the clutch/brake levers in such a way that the examiner knows that you arn't holding the bike in gear or on the front brake

Whilst stopped, yeah thats correct.

But putting it in N whilst moving will be a no no.

no, I agree - I wondered if that's where his confusion was coming from regarding selecting Neutral; I've never heard of selecting it and coasting to a stop.

Some bikes have trouble selecting N when stopped, and need N to be engaged before you come to a stop.

Usually Italian... And green....

I sometimes click neutral coming to a stop at lights if the lights have just gone red, nothing worse than sitting holding the clutch in for a couple of minutes, does my tits in..

Agreed! Learn so much more after your test, especially on a bigger bike when you get one!

Riding about for a year on my own with just a CBT on a CG125 was brill, don't get me wrong, but since passing my test last month, and jumping on a 1200, well... It's a whole new ball game, and I'm bloody loving it!

Dan - hope you did well on the test
