If it's stupid enough to be in front of a moving vehicle, then that's really its own fault.

In the UK the red squirrel is protected by the Wildlife and Countryside Act of 1981, and is a Priority Species, and therefore the subject of a Biodiversity Action Plan (BAP), under the government's response to the 1992 Convention on Biological Diversity. A Scottish Squirrel Group, co-chaired by Scottish Natural Heritage and the Forestry Commission, was established in 1996 and a Scottish Strategy for Red Squirrel Conservation (PDF) was produced in 1998.

The Act makes it an offence (subject to exceptions) to intentionally kill, injure, or take, possess, or trade in any wild animal listed in Schedule 5, and prohibits interference with places used for shelter or protection, or intentionally disturbing animals occupying such places. The Act also prohibits certain methods of killing, injuring, or taking wild animals.

Now - Was it Murder or Accidental

"The Act also prohibits certain methods of killing, injuring, or taking wild animals."

Certain ways, so is it ok to injure them using a rubber mallot instead of a sledgehammer?

Its perfectly legal to shoot grey squirrels if you are killing them humanely and on land you have permission to shoot on and arent using a gun thats over the legal limit.

Is a .50 calibre considered over the limit? Or is it just bad sport?
