light is on, is there anyway of finding out what is wrong myself? heard of a paper clip test, how is this done?

i coudlnt find it in there first time, but ive found it now + dan295 has been helping me, ill be postng vid up on youtube so that people can help me get the codes, got 4 minutes worth and then got fed up

I have the codes as 1405 and 0340

1405 - Exhaust Gas Re-circulation (EGR) valve
0340 - Camshaft sensor

Camshaft sensor will be flagging up becuas ethe engine isnt running when you do the test so ignore it.

Your problem is the EGR valve

EGR no surprise there then , bloody things are rubbish.

what would a non working EGR do to the engine then? how would the engine run?

the engine revs die if they go below 2k, and sounds like its running on 3, does this sound like a fooked EGR?
