Well i've looked in the guides - Was suprised to see that nobody has done anything on lightening panels / anything else on corsa's..

Anyone done any of this?

Interested to know, and maybe do some myself on mine...

Quite a few people have chopped things off to make there Cars Lighter. There's loads of Threads around.

Obviously get rid of all your Interior,Carpet,Sound Deading (sp) Etc then there's Bar's in the Doors which can be cut out,Unused Wire's spripped out,Battery Tray,Remove FARB Etc.

By doing some things though you are weakening the Car and therefore making yourself more at Risk in a Accident.

Yeah was thinking of the bars in the doors - But decided against that for that reason... I might just strip random shit out.. i want it relatively comfortable in the front, so i'm having Cali leathers hopefully, but i wouldn't mind losing the doorcards and getting fibreglass replacements and trimming bits of doors out etc...

Will have to see if anyone comes up with any pics in here me thinks!

Cheers

Well you can buy Carbon Doorcards which look the Part and obviously do there purpose aswell.
If you wanting it to be light though i wouldnt be putting Calli Leather's in as that just defeats the whole object really.

You can buy very comfortable Bucket Seats,Which will be more effective then Leather's.

Yeah i suppose... I need to think about it, I was just saving weight to compensate the leathers...

Buckets are a lot more expensive too.. lol

If you've taken all the door cards out and replaced the glass with polycard you can then take all the door strengthening out

the door has a fair bit of structural rigidity in it doesnt it? youd need a cage with door bars before cutting the inner structure of the door away surely on a road legal car?

very true! i wouldnt like ti have a crash with out them door bars in! when i finally get my door bars fitted on my cage the doors will be getting totaly stripped down! will grind the whole inner pannel out just leaving the innner handel behind, grind out the door bars, the drill shit loads of hole rouns the bottom and inside edge, they should be pretty dam light then,

gaz'd and andy with the purple corsa(totb one) is a good example to look at, they've took loads of weight out of the car from the doors, rear inner 1/4s boot, front end etc.

im completly gutting my corsa doors as i have 'x' bars so i dont have to worry about side impact from point of view of taking the door impact bars out.
