i fitted my hids today, i got a hi/lo kit as i knew that is what i would need, i fitted them and had them working perfect i then tidied up the wires, and tryed them again everything was grand, i then took the car a run, and the drivers side one went out, so i switched them off, and 5 mins later ttryed them again, they both came on and after about 30seconds the drivers side one went out again, done this 3 or 4 times,

anyone had this problem or know what is it?

Yeah as Matt said, almost definitely an earth.

Failing that, loose connection into the wiring loom for the lights.

the plug that hooks into the ballast on the drivers side, there is no power going to it, which means the ballast doesnt work

Not necessarily. Check all the plugs again - that both pins inside each plug are equal length and straight. One of my sets had a similar problem and it turned out one of the pins in a plug was bent and slightly shorter. A bit of bodging and it was fixed

Check ALL wires - it's usually the least logical one lol.

When you turn the lights on, do you hear it click? Can you hear it buzzing a bit if you hold it to your ear? If so then no it's not that for definite. TBH, if it turns the other one on as well, it's almost definitely not that, but just a dodgy plug.

The build quality on some of these kits isn't all that tbh

swap the bulbs over with each other and if it still does it you know your balast has gone. not saying you have but if you dont fit these tight vibration can damage the balast. iv had this problem, just call the company you got the kit from and ask for another one. if it happens to the other side you know the bulb is faulty. did you touch the bulb when putting it in the headlight?

changed the bulbs over and they are both working, and the ballast works on the other side just no power going down the wire that leads to the drivers side plug going into the ballast

Get a photo of your set up if you can mate, I'm confusing myself trying to visualise all this now lol.

Maybe get on of the engine bay and draw round the bit that's not working and I'll have a think.

It's a pity it's a kit that only has one plug to plug into the OEM wiring as my last kit like that was a bit temperamental, hopefully that's not the issue for you too.

I really can't see why that's not working other than a loose connection tbh.

So you;ve swapped bulbs over, but have you swapped ballasts? I think that's possible...

Have you definitely checked every connection for bent / short pins?

Seriously, do you not listen to me mate? If one ballast buzzes, the other one doesn't, and it did work but after a short journey stopped, the big signs are a loose connection. Please just try it, I feel this thread could have been "case closed" a few days ago!
