much and muchness, but I would say Plasma over LCD, although it depend which plasma and which LCD of course.

Personally dont like Sammys. Dont get me wrong they're 'value for money', but I would personally go for Panasonic or Pioneer.

*oh*, I would also recommend asking over at the AV Forums but they'll only repeat what ive said

Get a Plasma if you're going for 50inchs, you'll benefit more with a Plasma over LCD at that size.

You'd be better off with Plasma at 50", but I think it's not so great that it doesn't offer 1080p. Panasonic ones are also very good, as Bart said.

Pioneer dont make TVs anymore bud

Would go for Panasonic myself, but you wont get a top of the line 50" for £700

Samsungs are good budget TVs, if you want top quality - double your budget and look in the opposite direction of Comet!

I just bought this for my new flat:

http://www.1staudiovisual.co.uk/catalog/panasonic-txp50g10-inch-plasma-p-6810.html

Highly recommended on avforums. Hasn't arrived yet but I'll let you what it's like when I've had a few hours viewing.

New Sony 200hz LCD, look the best in my eyes. Panasonic are my preferred all rounder though.

Fitted one last week, really nice set, nice and slim and the picture on BluRay was superb.
