right, can I fit electric windows without having the loom in my door plugs? By simply running a few wires to the battery through the rubber grommit in passenger footwell? would this work? Obviously I'd have to watch my feet getting out the car, lol.

You can do it - You sure you don't already have the wiring?
The wires will run through the normal wire carriers into the door loom anyway if not - Just route them up with the original loom so they aren't in the footwell...
There's a fair bit to it I believe though...

I'm certain I don't, it just seems complicated because the multiplug on the door connects to the plastic dash on the other side  hard to get at...
