need to change my brake fluid and just spent £20 on pads so want to keep it cheap if possible. is halfords bikehut brake fluid any good? whats the difference between the mineral oil brake fluid and the dot 5.1 fluid? its for my magura julie disc brakes. hopefully going out riding tomorow evening so havnt got time to wait for mail order stuff to arrive. thanks

Abit late, but i would definatly say do for the dot 5.1, will feel alot nice!

Im sure Magura is a mineral fluid only brake iirc. I know my old HS33s were mineral only. It should say on the resivouir cap though what to use

magura is mineral
halfords lmf fluid (for citeorns) will do the job and is cheap

the 5.1 is synthetic, and if you are hammering your brakes, it doesnt lose compression capability and so fade.
works the same way as your car. you will have to completely drain the system though to put that in as mineral will be in there from new.

Magura's are mineral only though. I always used car stuff in my Hope's, but they were DOT 4...
