If you are fitting the rev counter to see if you are 'flat out in 5th' you are going to be dissapointed, the 1.2 8v hasnt got enough power to pull to the red line in 5th.

^^^ this is true, 1.0 12v has better acceleration but 1.2 8v has a slightly higher reachable speed

I've got a 5 speed gearbox in my car, but got a 4 speed sat in my shed, which should be faster? Not too fussed really just curious

I've got 100 on the motorway from my 1.2 8v
I imagine the 5 speed is better.
