Ive got them both on 360. I finished Dirt really quickly so i sawpped it for NFS. Dirt is the better of the two but is relatively short in comparison.

I played the Dirt demo and didnt think much to it, saw NFS in Gamestation, it looks pretty but again I didnt like the way the game played, but then Im a Forza / GranTurismo fan

Is it just driving in shift? I.e jump into this race car and do this race?

or can you actually upgrade and own your cars?

Or is it pretty much grid?

Upgrade and own your own cars. You dont have much choice on the upgrades really but it works well.
