https://www.halfordsc2w.co.uk/employees/marketing/index.html

I want to spend £600 and want a hard tail mountain bike and a few accesories.

Got my eye on a carrera kraken

what would you lot get?

I would rather lose by a mile because i built my own car, than win by an inch because someone else built it for me.

My Dad got a Boardman Pro through his works bike to work scheme. Decent bike. He got some mud guards and paniers to make up the price too.

Dont know if this works?

http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_storeId_10001_catalogId_10151_productId_512553_langId_-1_categoryId_165499#dtab

But that seems a fairly good bike. Just scanned through the reviews and everyone seems happy with it. Fairly decent spec, suspension, brakes etc.

Still got £51 to spend for lights and whatever else you need.

Cycle to work schemes usually let you choose where you buy the bike? I was looking at a trek 6300 iirc when I was going to do this. I still might just need to save up for a car first.

It HAS to be with Halfords. If not I'd be going to my mates cycle shop. By the weekend I'll get a £600 voucher to spend in the cycle department at Halfords.

I like the one Kif had but they are doing 20% off Carrera so the Fury would go from £550 to £440. I could then get beasty lights and a lock and pump and mudguards and a cycle computer.

What are the conditions of the scheme? Take it you need to be seen on it X amount of times a year or something?

50% of commuting. Or part commuting.

They can't really check it. I'm not even sure if they want proof you still have the bike and not sold it!

Read the small print.....if the scheme is anything like the ones I looked into you will find it to be a bit of a shocker.

Ie, you never actually own the bike...if it gets nicked you refund 100% of value etc

You are leasing it from work, then after 12 months they give it to you. If it gets nicked then the onus is on you to insure it!
