I was commenting on how reliable my audi had been the other week and had (touch wood) never gone wrong - well its all gone tits up - AA on their way out, Garage booked!
Everytime you fire up, it hunts for a while, then drops to 0 revs then dies. 5/6 times on the way to work this morning, as soon as you depressed the clutch, the car sut out; if I was rolling and released the clutch it would bump start again but idle all over the place.
It also wouldn't rev up, with foot flat to the floor, it didn't seem to accelerate at all - hairy when pulling out of junctions - then all of a sudden it was like someone had let the brakes off and it would fly up to 6000RPM.
All in all, I'm back to not liking the car and JR is right in everything he ever says about them (disclaimer, if its a cheap fix, I might go back on that)

It was going for a service on Wednesday anyway so the place is having it today instead - VAG Specialist, not main dealer, also friend of the family so won't be ripped off TOO badly

Yeh - its not cheap either..
i would also be checking:
the Y shaped breather from the cam cover..
the heating circuit of the lambda probes
The throttle body and give it a good clean

£860 to fix! (Parts alone came to £580)
- O2 sensor
- Coil Packs
but whilst he was in he did a full (major CAM Belt/Waterpump) service and replaced all 4 disks and pads, plus one rear calliper was seized so that had to be replaced as well.
but he found out there's a problem with the Alarm as well now and that the box is full of water.
I don't think the corsa cost me more than £200 in 7years+; including a head gasket replacement and new ECU!
Audi's

They saw you coming with those parts prices didn't they Should be around £200ish for the coil packs plus an O2 sensor, probably less. Fitting would have cost you nothing more than a couple of hours labour on your part, not hard.

All of the component parts are cheaper than main delaer prices - first thing I checked
