Surely you can just get a report from a garage saying it's been fitted all ok?

I don't understand why a garage would need to provide evidence for carrying out the work. I know plenty of people who are more qualified than some spanner jockey kid in a dodgy garage who could do the work.

Surely at worse you could just apply for an SVA test?

when you put it like that, its good from a safety POV so make sure it is done right - so madmike is doomed if a jobs worth doing its worth doing well.

cant really see a problem myself apart from having to have it checked out by an RAC bloke..only thing i can see is more people not declaring them..

Some site unrelated to cars has posted engine transplants are banned.

The only information they give to back this up is a link to some SVA manuals, which I won't be reading through, but at a guess probably don't say anything about stopping engine transplants.

As said, at worst it will just need to get an SVA test. Which isn't really a bad thing as it'll stop the buckets making it onto the highways

There was some chat a while back saying that engine swaps would result in needing an SVA and you'd end up on a Q plate. That would be annoying as I want a private plate on my car...

Not that easy mate as i found out when i had my engine fitted when i had to get an engineers report done for my insurance i drove around loads of garages and made loads of phone calls to others and no garage would touch it because they dont want any responsibility if anything happens down the line ect.
