about me buying a car without a log book.
When I bought the car the lady said she sent off for a new log book and would send it me in the post.
I have just text her saying 'any news on the log book'
Her reply
'Im so sorry, I was talking to my mum about the car today, she said she forgot to post it. It will probably be faster for you to get a v62 form and apply for it in your name and DVLA can write to me to confirm it'
Is that the way to go? I don't have a clue.
Thanks

In all theory then this woman still owns your car?
Best make sure you don't go through any speed cameras, she won't be too happy

Sounds very dodgey. Out of interest why didnt you both fill out/sign the logbook when you bought it?

well everything you've posted seems to make it sound a bit fishy. id never buy a car without a log book. id never take a car away without the new keepers suppliment etc. you didnt hpi it before you bought it which is a simple £1.50 text message. you didnt look at it properly, it needed an mot. how did you drive the car back when you bought it?
i find it shocking people like you are allowed to buy a car, and drive it on the same road as i am.

well basically you've bought a car without a v5. the woman could claim she still owns it. you could get charged for stealing etc.

Back to topic.
Your choices are
Ask her to upkeep her part of the deal.
Sort a V5 yourself via V62 form. Pay out loads of DVLA charges and messing. Hope she doesn't deny knowing you.

Yep, you really need to get a receipt off her for your own sake, atleast till you get conformation of the car in your name.
