Nah, they are rubbish. My mum has been to a few and Ive heard the tapes. It seems they come out with some really profound stuff by in reality they have ways to beat around the bush until they home in one something and then they push that.

my mum and sister been to them. i am a sceptic but the psychic named family names spot on which my mum did not even know about until she looked into it. The psychic also picked up on an illness which meant nothing at the time but became apparent with a family member a couple months later.

I've had indepth convos with an old colleague who wasn't a slack person, after her "stories" I've become less sceptical and more intrigued. Although I bet there are a high percentage of cowboys out there that is for sure.

Exactly. The physic threw stuff out there, lots of it, and then you go away and make things fit to it, or things may happen that fit to it. If they dont then you dont remember.

no, i see what your saying but your wrong. They specifically named names that they could not have just guessed, they didnt throw a whole list of names out either.

I am sceptical myself but the stuff they managed to say was mind boggling. I want to do it myself to see what all the fuss is about.

Formally, no I didn't.

After speaking to many intelligent people, who arn't your usual "idiots" i've kinda changed my opinion.

Im still skeptical, but they have helped every person in their own ways. Maybe they've just said what that person needed to hear at the time, but at the end of the day, they've always helped.

They've never pressured, come out with facts that no pyhsic could ever just "know".

I've not been to one, I am skeptical, but I need to understand it more, maybe even visit one myself.

It helped my mother out as well, and although she's led astray, it helped her hugely, so they arn't all that bad either.

They usually cold question you. The normal technique is to make you think they are telling you things when in fact they are asking you things, it's quite clever.

Saying that, it doesn't interest me and I've never seen a psychic before so I'm probably wrong.

Same thing Damo. I was proper questioning the lady I was talking to, saying it was leading questions etc, but she said otherwise. HEr daughter who went had something like a watch in her drawer at home that was a present off her dad who had passed away, the psychic brought it up, and also an old pet name for something, really specific un-generic stuff.

Exactly. I was a skeptic, but when someone pulls stuff out like that it has made me think. Did they say anything that made no sense?

I'd say the whole psychic thing is just down to interpretation and the power of suggestion.

I'm pretty open minded when it comes to stuff like this/ghosts/UFOs/whatever (let's face it - no-one can deny that there are things even science can't explain) but if you are put (unknowingly) into a semi trance-like state you could still extract information from someone and build on that - example:

"you have recently suffered a great sadness in your life"

- "yes my <whoever/whatever> died"

" <whoever/whatever> wants you to know that they are in a better place blah blah etc."

And then you might not realise it but you actually told the 'psychic' information that they didn't know of?

Back when Derren Brown wasn't an idiot, he did an interesting scenario where he wrote a "personal" letter to a group of five people. Each person read the letter and was completely amazed by it's accuracy and suddenly converted into a believer of psychics. He then got each person to swap letters and they realised they all had exactly the same letter. I'm a huge believer in cold reading. People will always read into what is being said to them as what they want to hear.
Anyone going to see a psychic is already open to the experience and is more likely to be led in by it. That's not to say I think they are all fakes.
