Hello everyone, my girlfriend and I have finally stepped onto the 'ladder' and bought our first house together. We both live with our parents at the moment so it's going to be a reality check I'm sure, but we're both ready for it and very very excited.

It's still in Sheffield and we got quite a good deal. It's a new build and the developer is Strata. That particular style of house is up at £154,950, however we have got ours for £144,950 fully carpeted. It's on the front of a new development, next door but one to the show home. It's a 4 bedroom plus a study and has an extra parking slot (not in picture).
I think we should be in before Christmas, maybe start of December. Best get the sofa ordered
More pictures to come as I'm going up this weekend to take a few more as well as some measurements.
Will need some inspiration for various rooms, anyone know of any useful sites (besides house day) for that sort of stuff.

Looks amazing, would love something like that! 4 bed + study (so essentially a 5 bed ) for a first house is massive! You planning on staying for more than a decade and it becoming a family home?
edit - lthough I have to say it looks as though they skimped on the design of the outside of the building - the pic youve got up there looks a bit bland......not sure what you could do with it though??

I agree totally with what you're saying, the picture doesn't do it a great deal of justice if I'm honest. I commented on the plain black door the first time I saw it and it was something I would change at some point. However once you see the surroundings and neighbouring properties (in the next photos) it fits in very well.
Also, I can see us being here for a while yeah, I don't think it would be beneficial to us to move on any time in the next 10 years in my opinion.

As you say you cant properly judge without a complete view of the surroundings, so no doubt it fits in fine. Is it the same inside as the fancy website pictures? If it is, thats very

on the upside on a new development the ones at the front of the site usually have the most care taken out of them when they're built

Ground floor is the kitchen and dining area.
1st floor has living room, bathroom with bath and shower, 1 double bedroom and then the home office.
2nd floor has master bedroom with en suite, another double room and then another single room which we intend to turn into a dressing room.
Like I say, I'll be going up this weekend to get some more pictures, so hopefully it should give you a better idea of the surroundings.

I quite like these town house layouts, the only thing that puts me off is the prospect of having a neighbour on either side (I know you got an end one!) I had looked at some built by Cala homes before buying my detached house for less. Different location though!
What I loved about the ones I looked at was they had the middle floor open plan & had a wooden deck outside which doubled as a double car port. Very clever & modern looking. Expensive (for around here) at £225k though!!

Thats insane value but as stated looks like the developer skimped on the architechtural features which is fine if you are getting it cheeeeeaap

As Colin said though, the townhouse style opens all sorts of avenues for interior architecture and design (I like the sound of 2 normal floors and an open plan middle floor ) and the fact youve got an end one is only better, I hated having neighbours either side

We were originally looking for the whole middle floor living thing, but the one we were after stopped doing the homebuy deal, so went for the one we've got.
And I think we'll be better off now, we've got a cat and it'd be a ball ache going downstairs to let the thing out, and having to lock up again etc...

Just been to look at one very similiar today, alot more spacious than I thought, how much haggling did you do to get 10k off?
Is only 2 left for sale on this plot, so ringing back Monday to discuss!
Show home is stunning, guessing alot of ££££'s furnishing it!
I like the style, congratulations on new home also. Hopefully join the boat soon!

Been over to the house again today and took a few more pictures, forgive the poor quality on some, must have had the camera on the wrong setting
Anyway here goes...
The one to the left

Although it's a new build, it was already built and as a result didn't have a say in the style of the kitchen. I think it's OK but given the choice I would have chosen otherwise.

The double room on the first floor.

Shower in the 1st floor bathroom, no shower curtain/screen up yet but were getting them to sort that for us before we move in.

The study room which is on the 1st floor. (picture doesn't show the rooms full size)

Living room doors.

Master bedroom window (hooooge)

Master bedroom with en suite.

2nd floor landing from the master bedroom.

Master bedroom en suite shower

1st floor landing from living room.

Boundary is the width of the house, up to the bushes
